So Many Children…Until… 3.4

Well hello!  Welcome back to the Lightnings & Happy Valentine’s Day!  Something rather distressing just happened in game (you’ll see by the end of this post) so let us skip the pleasantries, and get right into a Lightning Check!

OH YEAH – first however, there was a patch, and with that patch they added genealogy!  So let’s see what that’s all about.

Well what do ya know?  The family trees everyone wanted!  And wow that’s a lot of kids, ha ha ha.

Okay now let’s see where those Lightnings are…

She followed him around for HOURS, and he never acknowledged her presence.  Just kept working on the garden.  It was SO funny to watch.  And if she didn’t look so stinkin’ happy the entire time, it would’ve been sad.  Way to be, Casey.

Casey is however, mean-spirited, and found herself angry for no reason a little while later.  And picked on poor Liv.

Liv and Casey despise each other after this.  Which I can understand.

Casey adores Liv’s twin Lars, however.

And everyone else in the house.  Guess it’s just Liv who became her punching bag.

I think Liv looks almost exactly like her sister Juliet.

So I focus on her hair and make-up.  She rolled evil as her trait, and the big happy family aspiration.

Lars somehow doesn’t look just like his older brothers, and I think he’s ADORABLE.

Look at dat face!  Might be a lot of Jimmy – but I think he’s adorable.  He rolls the best selling author aspiration, and adds music lover.

Yay!  More teens to help out!

It’s cute when the children kneel to do their homework, but a little odd when the teens do it.

Everyone works hard to get their homework done so I can exploit their labor in the fields.

Henri prepares a meal while the kids (who are all hungry) study.

I think I opted for fish tacos.  I love the food and recipes in this game.

Jimmy’s out working as he ALWAYS is.

Henri “baby facotry” etta is pretty useless, while pregnant her needs deteriorate very quickly, so I can get her all happy, put her to work, and then a just a short while later I have to get her all happified again.  And she’s ALWAYS pregnant.

The second Henri sits down with her tacos, she goes into labor!

About danged time.

I hope it’s just one!

Or maybe two would be good, because then the house would be full and she wouldn’t have to be pregnant – AGAIN.

N BABY!  I went ahead and used the pregnancy test to fast forward things a little.  Jimrietta is pregnant with their 8th child.  And Henri is STILL a YOUNG ADULT!  All those pregnancies have kept her so young.

Henri:  I bet you could tell but…

Ha… his face.  I actually do not blame his face.

Mimi is the happiest baby I’ve ever had.

She has cried ONCE since her birth.

She never had a poopy diaper.  Not once.  That’s my kind of infant!  She gets artistic prodigy and creative.  She’s just as lovely as her many, many siblings.

I instantly regret giving Kenny the boot.

I could really use his help, the plants look AWFUL.

Yay!  They’re not in the best spirits after the school day, but I don’t care.

Kenny and Ian stop by.

This family is sweet and likes to spend time together.  However, all I could think at this moment was how badly I wanted to make them go help with the farm.
The hard work pays off, however.

This haul will bring in over $4000.00  Most of the plants are “Superb” or at least “Excellent”.  The cherries alone netted over $1k.  Those 90 tulips and 53 roses also really brought in the money.  Next time we have a harvest, I’m going to pay attention to what really makes bank, and scale the operation down a bit.  I know mushrooms are pretty worthless.  And the sage and daisies (not pictured).  They have about $16k, I’m thinking of tearing down the house and building a new one.

Not being slowed down by constant pregnancy, Jimmy is aging into elder!

I decided he needed a new look.  With less hair.

On his head, that is.  A bit more on his face.  I think he looks ADORABLE.

And they finally aren’t sleeping in the cheapest double bed.

I was JUST about to save and close when…

OMG!  It’s from her peeing herself right before Noah was born!  I thought she’d be just fine!  I cannot believe this!!!

Oh no…

Poor Mimi!

She was the only one to witness her mother literally DYING from embarrassment.

*sigh*

This is not good.  Not good.

In a brief moment of rational thought, I send Mimi to quickly plead for her mother’s life.

We were not successful.

Henrietta, mother of 8 – Ian, Juliet, Kenny, Lars, Liv, Casey, Mimi & Noah – dies as a young adult of embarrassment on her kitchen floor.  Because she wet herself right before giving birth to Noah, and I ignored her wishes to alleviate the mortification.  I can’t believe she’s really dead.

You’re all on your own, Jimmy.

But that does mean we have our heir!  Since Henri is obviously not having any more children – Noah will continue the Lightning Legacy.

And that’s all for now!  I was genuinely shocked beyond reason, and pretty sad when Henri chose to die all because of a little pee when about to go into labor.  I mean, it’s pretty understandable if you ask me.  However – I am a bit ready to move on… she was still a YA, so we’d probably have been able to knock out several more kids with Jimmy before either he passed away, or she aged up.  I love Jimmy & Henri, and I love all the children, but I can’t see them really providing any more variety.  I think, now that there’s genealogy, we’ll be able to see grandparent genetics play a roll, so I’m ready to add a little more diversity to the gene pool.  I promise that Noah’s spouse will add something new.  Thanks for reading!  And until next time, Happy Simming!

Who the Heck is Casey? 3.3

Well HELLO!  Welcome back to another new and improved TS4 Lightning Update!  Last time I still hadn’t figured out how to control the tricky aging going on in the hood.  Spoiler: I still hadn’t figured it out – you’ll see.  Oh will you SEE!

Let’s get started – SIM CHECK!

Jimmy is watering mushrooms.

Henrietta here is evolving some potatoes.

Gardening in TS4 is 100 times more work than in TS3.

Ian is on his way to fix a busted sink!

Who the heck is Casey?

That.  That baby in the angled pink bassinet is Casey.  So you  know that spoiler I talked about?  About how I still hadn’t managed to completely grasp the ever-so-complicated (it’s seriously not that hard) aging system in TS4?   WELL – when I left off last post, Jimmy & Henri had TFB’d and apparently they were successful!  I was off dinking around with some random household that may or may not have had a TS4 Emma Watson running around, and when I returned to The Lightnings a few short Sim Days later, Henri had given birth, and named this little girl.  So there’s a Casey where we should have had a Mindy or something.  Who should have been heir, since she’s the last child born… but NO.  I’ll have a reader poll for Lars or Liv and you guys can pick.  Casey can just take up space and be our own little Cinderella who I make do all the cleaning and never send to school.  Because that’s what she gets for being born when I wasn’t paying attention.

One sleeping.  One awake.  One screaming.

Ian gets baby care duty, since everyone else is out tending the farm.

Aren’t they adorable?  I aged them up early enough to get their homework down for the first day of school.

Except they didn’t have to go to school – so I guess they can dink around all day.

The babies wake up Juliet in the wee hours. Her needs were pretty high, so I had her help out with the family business, but now she’s all tired.

And has school in 15 minutes.  OOPS.

L-Twins enjoy a lazy day.

Cloud gazing in the dirt.  LOOK AT HER OUTFIT!  I like Lars’ too!  I miss CASt, but there’s some fun things you can do with their outfits, and you’re not quite as limited as I thought we’d be.  CASt can be a little overwhelming sometimes, with the nearly limitless options – and I frequently found myself just using the same things anyway…

There’s one more you can’t see along the inside wall.

The hard work has paid off, and the last harvest netted the Lightnings more than $2K!  So I add on an additional bathroom off the SIX KIDS’ room.

It’s one of the “styled” rooms – I’m incredibly fond of styled rooms.  You can download user created rooms so easily too.  Some definite perks to TS4!

It’s a little late in the afternoon by the time Jimmy and Henrietta get their needs up enough to get to work.

It’s very challenging to have all these plants, but it’s very rewarding too.

Juliet gets home from school and helps out.  She doesn’t have any homework in her inventory.  So fine.

Farm.

Henrietta works on a sturdy faucet upgrade.

Eventually this house will come together, I’m certain of it!

We have a birthday!

Kenny is entering his teenage years!

He rolls Master Mixologist and music lover – and gains essence of flavor to go with hot-headed.  Isn’t he a cutie!  Fun fact about hot-headed Sims… when they’re grumpy, the stomp around sure, but the also slam things.  Like the refrigerator door.  So funny!  I heard this *SLAM* and I was like, WTH?  And I saw he was all angry walking away with a glass of milk.  HA!

**4 In Real Life Days Later**

HI – let’s Sim Check again since I’ve been gone so long, and I feel I need to do that to get started properly.

Jimmy, Henrietta and Juliet are on the couch.

And something apparently STINKS…

Ian, Liv and Lars are about to start some homework.

That leaves Kenny – Look at that smile!

Who is so sweet (well, for a mean Sim) I’m mad at her for being born while I wasn’t paying attention.

The house is jam-packed and very busy.

It’s very hard to keep everyone on task.

4 of the kids manage to eat something for breakfast, but Casey and Lars just aren’t as lucky.

Look at how handsome Kenny is!  You’d think I’d be sick of the brown hair, but strangely enough, I’m not!  I do want some variety, but he is just too cute!

For some reason, the Lightnings cannot “clean up” they just pick up and put down the dishes over and over again.

I spent $200 bucks on a new sink, but it didn’t fix the issue.  Thankfully in TS4 you the Simmer can drag dirty dishes into the sink, or even the trash can and they clean-up.  But still.  I like making them do it.  A restart probably would’ve fixed it, we’ll see.

Oops!  Ian aged up!  He adds bookworm to his traits.

Juliet is aging up too, and adds geek.  I have no idea why they’re so filthy!  Now they’re also all SAD because I ignored their birthdays.

Wait a minute, this means that Lars and Liv will NOT be put to heir vote, as Ian and Juliet are moving out.  (AND AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD FROM THE GALLERY!  Just search #lightning)  That means there’s room for MORE BABIES!  Jimmy is an adult, but Henrietta is still a YA!  So let’s see just how many kids Jimmrietta (ha, stupid) can have!

Also – I turned aging back on (I know what you’re thinking – am I sure I can handle it?!?  NO.) so the spares don’t just stay young adults out in the neighborhood forever.  I’ll just have to remember not to play any other save files without converting it back – and know that any other save files I have will age while I play the Lightnings.  Hopefully I don’t screw that all up – but if history has taught me anything, I totally will.

OMG – HOW DRAMATIC.

I’m SORRY I missed your birthday.  I thought you’d be home in time for cake!
Fun thing – TS4 Sims do everything in a manner that reflects their current mood.  Ian here is incredibly sad about his forgotten birthday.

Farmer Jimmy 3.2

Well HI!  Welcome back to the Lightnings!  I have to start off by saying “whoops.”  I didn’t realize that if I played other households, that the Lightnings were aging.  So I go to load them today and…

This is little Ian.  Whoops.  Damn.

SO!  We’re starting over, and I unchecked that pesky box “Auto Age (Unplayed Sims)” so hopefully that problem has been resolved.

But that’s OKAY because THIS TIME, I made Jimmy and Henri husband and wife!  So let’s SimCheck!  Henrietta looking bored and watching TV.

I have this handsome guy rejoin the business career and make some scrambled eggs.

Well, if we had a bed.  So we’re going traveling!

This place looks nice.

Except no one lives here… and you can’t woohoo in an empty house.  This is like the only rule from my TS3 challenge rules that I can still do – if there’s room in the house, have a baby.  So we’ll do whatever it takes.

Jimmy:  Yes, hello, can we come in?  My wife is ovulating.

We gain entrance, and some children from one of my first ever goes in TS4 have aged all the way into adults. Stupid aging.

This one is especially charming.

I hadn’t seen them since they were children…  I don’t even remember his name…

Henri: Doo dee doo de dooo, gonna do the woohoo…

Weirdest. Thing. Ever.

The family pays no mind, because sure – strangers come over to do the ‘hoo in your house, simply because it has a double bed.

I know I’ve said this before, but I miss shower woohoo, the Lightnings HAVE a shower.

While Jimmy and Henri are busy, let’s meet the family who’s privacy we’ve so violently invaded.

Garrison is the blonde, Linda and Mae are the ladies, and they’re twins, and Mohawk guy is named Vaughn.  I just rolled the dice for their names.  Their mother has died, they all have different fathers (except the twins of course).

Why so sad Jimmy?  That should’ve been fun?

Jimmy: I feel dirty.

Yeah – that makes sense.

In this version, the Lightnings aren’t quite as broke as they were last time, so I buy a cheap chess table for Ian.

Juliet helps.  Ian, though, is a cheater!  He pointed off into the distance, made Juliet look, then swapped pieces around!  It was hilarious, but not very nice!

No one entertains Juliet as much as her flexible self.

The person Juliet is taking too is named “River”  I cannot tell if male or female.  Lack of bosom inspires male, but rest of body shape is less distinct… and there can be very flat women!

The socks REALLY tie it together.

With only two beds, the family is sleeping in shifts.

These two lumps are mom and dad.

Aw, they ran out of gas, and their beds are occupied.

Henri needs to play video games for work, so I send her off to the Willow Creek library and set her to it.

Ambiguous “River” is there.  Still can’t decide on gender.  I leave her there and return to the rest of the family, hopefully she plays long enough on her own.

Why so grumpy – good lookin’?

Oh – I see.

HA!  FLARN!  He gets the funniest insane moodlets.

Under a full moon, I send Jimmy out to dig in these rock things.

We find a fair few things worth a fair bit of Simoleans.  Which is good, because they’re super-duper broke again.

His hard work managed to give us just enough to build this tiny little bedroom in the back.

We no longer have to visit strangers to woohoo in their house.

Love the kidlets.

TS4 children are a thousand times more fun than TS3 children.  Who needs toddlers?  (I kinda do… )

I checked on Henri, who hopefully is done with her video game task, but she’s only 25% completed then vaporized home.

Doesn’t seem to be feeling so hot.  😀

Henri is athletic, so I send her out for an evening jog.

He was super hungry, but there weren’t any prepared meals in the fridge, so I had him grab a glass of milk AND a bowl of cereal!  I thought he’d drink it, then grab the bowl, but check this out!

A finally showing, full bladdered, filthy and starving Henrietta wakes up after her husband and the kids have gone off to work and school.

One of these days, the “pee walk” is going to stop being funny.

Today is not that day.

The kids get home from work and “cloudgaze” (which is one of the new things from the outdoor pack) aw.

Adorbs.

Money is dire here in the Lightning house, so I send Jimmy out to go collect and dig – but ONLY after calling the “sadness hotline”… since he’s feeling sad.

Because he’s INSANE.

We harvest some wild cherries.

And Jimmy wears the tree like a hat.

Harvest, collect, harvest.  Jimmy runs around until we can pay the $536 in bills we have sitting in the mailbox.

I decide we need money so badly, that I’m going to have Jimmy start a garden.

And at this moment, I decide that my Sims can only make money from skills and hobbies.  NO JOBS – which is kind of what I was doing in TS3 – so Yay!  I have both Henri and Jimmy quit work.

Jimmy had different ideas.

More “creative” ideas, if you will.

Trying not to keep capturing every single moment of their lives, I skipped a few broken appliances, and other states of unhappiness, but this was the worst.

Super pregnant and fixing the toilet.  Every woman’s dream.

Alright Jimmy – get busy!

He works hard into the night digging up fossils and crap from “MySims” but it was worth and we have PAID THE BILLS.

Good man.

I sent him to pull weeds in the garden, and you can see the dandelion tufts blowing away.  What an adorable game.

Speaking of the garden – Jimmy and I spent some time running around collecting more varieties of plants!

I’d say we’re a full on functioning farm!  (ooh, alliterative…)

OMG and a girl too!  I name her Liv, kind of an homage to Livid Zale.
The kids room gets expanded, due to some financial success *finally* from the farm.

And real nice Ian.  Go pee.

Liv is the one in the blue crib, and Lars in the yellow/green.

SO THIS is a good stopping point!  There’s only one more slot in the house, so none of the children you’ve met will be heir!

Negative Pensions and a Glamorous New Generation! 3.0

Hey!  Pretend I got this post up the day before yesterday, and therefore managed my astounding one post a month goal, and that I’m not a complete failure.  Moving on…

Lightning Check!

Henrietta is sleeping.

Daniel is in the kitchen.

Always thinking of that snake charming basket that Beverly brought back from Egypt.

Ginger is wearing her graduation outfit thinking about salad.

And that’s it.  That’s all who live here.  Everyone else has died.

I realized I forgot to follow my own rules, and have Daniel retire now that he’s an elder.

And has been for a very long time.  (oops)

Um… that’s quite the pension!

At first I thought they were gonna get rich, and then I noticed that pesky little negative sign.  NEGATIVE $53k a WEEK!  Daniel must have been quite the magician.  I say yes anyway, let’s see what happens.

Yay!  Confetti and the guarantee of a life of debt for the family!

Just so you know, the Lightnings don’t even have enough to cover one week of this “pension”

I was watching Henrietta and Jimmy out on a date, just getting ready to take a picture or two, and BAM – camera pans home.

Damn, we’ll never know what would have happened with that pension.

While she was at work, she rolled a wish to pull a prank, and I watch the clock closely to see if we’ll have time before she autobirthdays.

We made it by about half an hour!

Henrietta rolls computer whiz to join artistic, loves the heat, easily impressed and athletic.

I think she’s very beautiful!

And whether he knows it or not, someone else is having a birthday!

So I was just over-thinking things.  Can you imagine?  You send your teenage son off to his girlfriends house, where he ages up, gets married, and you never see him again?  Anyhoo…

Graduation was ages ago, why do you insist upon wearing that?  Move out please.

I kick out Ginger, and for the briefest of moments, Henrietta is the only member of the Lightning Household.

Jimmy has the LTW about thievery.  I’ve never stolen an object in TS3 (aside from when people put things down and leave them) so I send him out to look for things to steal.

I had my eye on this fancy car, but we couldn’t steal it.

Then I learned you can’t steal things in broad daylight.  (Duh, n00b)

I follow a lot of wishes since there isn’t a lot else to do with such short lifespans, and Jimmy wanted to skinny dip at the public pool.

I had Henri join him after her jog.

I then decide I’ll have Jimmy ask Henri to marry him, it’s not an ISBI!  I’ll just correct their names later.

So after an invigorating skinny dip…

She says yes!

Aw…

Then I attempt my first ever Sim theft.

We have a bench!

Henrietta hops out of the cab she was taking home…

For one very obvious reason!

Nooboo!  The I is on the way!

Jimmy tried to swipe that fancy car from earlier, but he was “being watched”.  I saw that the Sims on the lot were on their way home, so I just waited, but one of them had the nerve to get in that fancy car and drive it home.  Dang.  So we stole this thing instead.

It was fun, stealing things!

Jimmy has rolled more “read pregnancy” books wishes than I have ever seen.  That’s his second one there, and by the end, he’s re-read them both twice!

Hey  Jimmy, this thing looks expensive.  Steal it.

He did.  Then we tried to steal another one and ended up with some “remains”.  Awesome.

Meanwhile, Henrietta is at the spa.

I ain’t gonna lie, I’d be all over that spa.  That is an awesome spa.  And the pool under the solarium?  So sweet, amirite?

Henri rolled a wish to play guitar at the park.

Maybe it’s because he’s insane, but Jimmy always wants to smack Henri with pillows.

But she smacks right back!

It’s super cute though, I’ve always loved the pillow fight option.  Hey!  Can they pillow fight in TS4?  I don’t think I’ve seen it!

After the pillow beating, Henrietta decides to announce her pregnancy.

Jimmy thinks it is amazing!

Then thumbs up!

Jimmy then rolled a wish to read a pregnancy book, which he’s done three times now.  o.O

Aw, Lightning died again.

Damn.  I really enjoyed that lizard.

They had it for generations.

Oh well, clean it up, I don’t want you sobbing about it for days.

Bolt is our only pet left.

And he’s super cute.

Just waiting for the baby to arrive.

Making a half-arsed attempt at her LTW, which we won’t make because she won’t have enough friends to work on Charisma.

We got our hands on this nicer car outside the diner.  $6.4k in stolen property!  Making progress!

I sent Henrietta to the hospital, Ian materialized home, and a baby sitter was called.

It’s a girl!

Juliet is born, she is easily impressed and perceptive.

An excellent beginning!  We have a new generation occupying the house, and the NEXT generation is well on the way!  Henri hasn’t even had her adult birthday yet, so I think we’ll get several letters out of this pairing!  Come back soon, I’ll try extra hard to get another post up this month to make up for it.  Happy Simming!
